The pre-release hype for the animated Batman: The Killing Joke promised a gritty, R-rated adaptation of one of the most brutal comics ever written. Then we found out that it was going to expand Barbara Gordon's role in the story, so she wasn't just a plot device. "Great!" we all shouted in unison. Then we got to see it, and things just took a steep nosedive. The bloated first act gives Babs fuck-all to do except bang her boss, Batman, and by the time we get to the actual meat of the story, we're awash in apathy.
The good folks over at Screen Junkies knew this too and gave the film the honest trailer treatment it deserved. Spoilers if you haven't seen it, but trust me, you're better off never seeing it. Woof.
Also, I can't be the only one that thought of Steve Brule when he says "Bratgirl"
